This page gives a few details of how we may be reached. You must not rely on the accuracy of the information given here, but we hope it'll be a good starting point for you to plan your journey. We've created downloadable axe files for each route that you can import into Microsoft Autoroute. This is not a definitive list of services and options and if you browse thru' our links page, you'll get pointers to other web sites that'll provide even more options, including a couple of route-planning websites.

 

Driving in France is a real pleasure compared to the over-crowded frantic roads of the UK but there are a few points to bear in mind (umm, remember to drive on the right?

• Road numbers in France change as you drive along them with no apparent logic for the change. We've found that the easiest way to navigate is to keep the road numbers in mind but use the town names when following road signs. All you need to do is prepare a list of towns you want to pass by that you can tick off as you go.
• Another tip, if you're trying to get thru' a town, is to look for a "Toutes Directions" sign and follow it out of town.
• French drivers do tend to drive rather close to your derriere - don't take it personally and don't let it faze you - you have plenty of time to read road signs as you come up to them.
• If you're planning on using the Autoroutes, tolls are often imposed. Sometimes at the beginning of the section but more usually, by taking a ticket from a machine at the beginning and paying at the booth at the end of the motorway.
• Do purchase a french road atlas. You'll find it invaluable for planning your journey here, as well as planning your trips out whilst you are here.

Route from Caen

Route from Calais

Driving Time: 6¾ hours

Route from Cherbourg

Route from Dieppe
